Nigeria how did I get here? How does a 52 year old from a small town in Pennsylvania move half way across the globe to Nigeria Africa? The answer is simple: God. The process of getting here was not so simple.
Over the last 3 years I have survived a major medical situation by the grace and mercy of our Creator. He has taken me from a mountain of debt, to being almost debt free. He has transformed my life in ways too numerous to count.
Up until this year, the only time I have traveled outside the US was for work about 25 years ago. In April of 2019, I traveled with a group from Ignition633 Ministries to Makurdi, Nigeria. This missions team spent 10 days in Nigeria. During this trip, God opened my eyes and my heart to the Nigerian people. During a joint worship service with a few hundred people in an IDP camp (Internally Displaced People), God allowed me to see the Nigerian people as he sees them; it was at this moment I knew I would be returning to Nigeria with a team that would live here.
Once we returned from the April trip, my wife and I knew we had much to do. We would have to take all of the "things" accumulated over 30 years of marriage and clean them out. Between April when we returned to the US, and October when we came back to Nigeria, we cleaned out our house into a 30 yard dumpster. We got rid of our cars, and dogs and cats (this was very hard on my wife), and we put our house up for sale. The process of clearing the house and getting it ready for sale took 2 months. We are trusting in the Lord's provision to sell the house.
Leaving family and friends has been especially hard. God took us through the whole process and strengthened our faith. Faith is not achieved until you take a step in that faith. We had talked the talk and now we were walking the walk.
